The Great Scottish Squirrel Survey

From Monday 2nd until Sunday 8th October the Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels (SSRS) project are asking people to participate in their Great Scottish Squirrel Survey.

This survey is important because it is more important than ever that grey and red squirrel sightings are reported because the information gained plays a key role in red squirrel conservation efforts. Each squirrel sighting reported to the SSRS project will provide a detailed snapshot of the current situation on the ground.

All you have to do is spend some time outdoors somewhere where there are plenty of trees as this is the preferred habitat of squirrels – this can be your garden, a local park, or a woodland! Take something to tally up your sightings of red or grey squirrels and then report your findings here: Squirrel Sightings – Saving Scotland’s Red Squirrels (scottishsquirrels.org.uk)
